About

Hello! I’m a biotech scientist, podcaster and company builder. My passion is working on devastating illnesses for which there is no cure. I’m also interested in themes of decentralization and democratization in academia and biotech.

Inspired by Jennifer Doudna winning the Nobel Prize for her discovery of CRISPR, I started Lady Scientist Podcast. I interview women scientists and share their experiences and knowledge with the world. You can follow along at ladyscientistpodcast.com. We are an independent show and appreciate you listening, sharing and subscribing.

I became interested in the Decentralized Science movement and how web3 might alleviate some of the issues with traditional scientific system through new incentive structures. I put together the DeSci Wiki with some of the projects and resources in this space; you can find it here. I update the wiki a couple times a month and appreciate the community’s contributions to improve it. I’m actively working on a few projects including LabDAO and a science/art/NFT project called UltraRare.

I received my PhD from the Molecular and Cellular Biology Program at the University of Washington where I was co-mentored by Lee Hood and Nathan Price at the Institute for Systems Biology. I also have a BA with honors in Integrative Biology from the University of California at Berkeley. I worked on gene and epigenome editing at Sangamo (2010-2013), epigenome editors for T cell exhaustion at Altius Institute (2017-2019), CAR T cell engineering at Lyell Immunopharma (2019-2020) and now work on epigenome engineering at Tune Therapeutics in Seattle, WA.
